Artist Elizaveta Pugacheva
An interdisciplinary artist working with painting, graphics, and textiles, her projects explore
themes of emigration, cultural identity, and collective memory.
The artist’s visual language combines the aesthetics of computer graphics and elements of
internet culture, including memes as a form of contemporary visual folklore.
She places
particular emphasis on critiquing the phenomenon of online labor and its impact on the
perception of reality.
“In my practice, I explore the intersections of cultural identity, migration experience, and collective memory, combining motifs of naive art with contemporary visual codes. I pay particular attention to the image of home as an archetype and symbol of transformation-from loss to the acquisition of a new belonging.
An important part of my research today is the greening of megacities and the nature of labor in the post-digital era.”
