Mezahir Ertuğ Avşar’s
artistic journey began in 1955 and has taken him across a remarkable path—from the classical traditions of ceramics to the expressive freedom of painting.
After graduating from the St. Petersburg Academy of Industrial Arts, specializing in Ceramics, he began his career as an educator and artist, sharing his knowledge in Azerbaijan and later in Türkiye.
In 2000, he was invited to Selçuk University, where he founded the Faculty of Fine Arts and served for ten years as Head of the Ceramics Department. His academic career continued through the Ceramic Design Department and later at Akdeniz University, shaping generations of young artists.
After decades devoted to ceramics, design, and education, Avşar found another powerful language of expression: painting.
Today, in his private studio, he continues to explore the world through acrylic colors, transforming years of artistic knowledge and life experience into vibrant contemporary works.
His journey is, in many ways, a journey from clay to color, from teaching to personal expression, and from the discipline of ceramics to the limitless freedom of the painted canvas.
Mezahir Ertuğ AVŞAR was born on January 12, 1955. In 1978-1984, St. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Industrial Arts (formerly V. Mushina) and graduated from the Ceramics Department of the Faculty of Decorative and Applied Arts.
He started his teaching career at Baku College of Applied Sciences and Arts and Design Department of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Engineers. In 2000, at the invitation of Selcuk University of the Republic of Turkey, he founded the Faculty of Fine Arts of SÜ, and for ten years (2000-2010) he was the Head of the Ceramics Department of SÜ GSF. Then Prof. Mezahir Ertuğ AVŞAR worked at the Ceramic Design Department of the Faculty of Art and Design of the same university and at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Akdeniz University. He is currently employed and continues painting in a private art studio.
